Who we are
Readerscope (readerscope.ai) is operated by Continuum Business Partnership Limited, registered in England & Wales under company number 14256085, with its registered office at 5 Sovereign Court, Totteridge Avenue, High Wycombe, HP13 6XL, United Kingdom, in collaboration with Stacks Publishing. Continuum Business Partnership Limited is the data controller for the personal data described in this policy and is registered with the UK Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO), registration reference ZC226378. You can contact us about anything in this policy at hello@readerscope.ai.
What we collect
- Account details — your first name, your email address and a password (stored only in securely hashed form; we never see or store the password itself).
- Profile content — the answers you type into the Readerscope interview, your conversations with Scope (our AI coach), and the reports generated from them.
- Optional shared material — if you choose to paste a synopsis, blurb, or sample pages, that text is read once to produce a short working summary (the “book brief”) and is never stored; only the brief is kept, and you can remove it from your profile at any time.
- Payment information — payments are handled entirely by Stripe. We never see or store your card details; we keep only a record that a purchase was made and its amount.
- Technical data — standard server logs (such as IP address and browser type) kept briefly by our hosting provider for security and reliability.
Why we use it (lawful bases)
- To provide the service (contract): we use your email and profile content to run your account, save your work, generate your coaching and reports, and respond to support requests.
- To keep the service secure and improve it (legitimate interests): security logs, fixing faults, and understanding how the product is used.
- Marketing emails (consent): we send news and tips only if you ticked the optional box at sign-up. You can withdraw consent at any time via the unsubscribe link in any such email or by contacting us, and this doesn’t affect your account.
Who processes your data for us
We use a small number of service providers, each acting under contract as our processor:
- Supabase — database and secure login (our project is hosted in London, UK).
- Vercel — website hosting and delivery.
- Anthropic — the AI that powers Scope. Your interview answers are sent to Anthropic’s API to generate coaching and your report. Under the API terms we use, this data is not used to train Anthropic’s models.
- Stripe — payment processing.
Some of these providers process data outside the UK/EEA (for example in the United States). Where they do, transfers are protected by recognised safeguards such as the UK Extension to the EU–US Data Privacy Framework or standard contractual clauses.
We never sell your personal data, and we never share it with anyone for their own marketing.
How long we keep it
We keep your account data and profiles for as long as your account is active. You can delete your account yourself at any time using the “Delete my account” link on your dashboard — this immediately and permanently removes your account, profiles, reports and personal data. You can also ask us to delete it by email, which we action within 30 days. In either case, minimal payment records that we are legally required to retain for accounting purposes are kept (these are held by Stripe and in our accounts).
Your rights
Under UK GDPR you have the right to access, correct, delete, or receive a copy of your personal data, to object to or restrict certain processing, and to withdraw consent where processing is based on consent. To exercise any of these, email hello@readerscope.ai. You also have the right to complain to the ICO at ico.org.uk.
Cookies
Readerscope uses only strictly necessary cookies — the ones that keep you logged in. We use no advertising, analytics, or tracking cookies, which is why you won’t see a cookie banner.
Changes
If we make material changes to this policy we will update this page and, where appropriate, notify you by email. The date at the top shows when it last changed.
